KLEX 2012 : Deframed
DATES : 16th to 20th November 2012

KLEX is coming back with its third edition, ‘Deframed’!

This year, we’ve received over 260 works from around the world through our open call. The curatorial team has selected 38 works to be featured in four KLEX programmes, including works from Croatia, France, Indonesia, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Thailand, UK, USA and more.

The main festival venue is at The Annexe on 16th -18th November where screening programmes, a forum discussion, a single-channel video installation and audio-visual performances will take place. The festival will feature a special programme from the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Video Art Collection, curated by Hasnul J. Saidon. Five international guest programmes from Australia, Thailand and Germany will be featured this year. The Thai programme is curated by May Adadol Ingawanij and Mary Pansanga from the Bangkok Experimental Film Festival. Festival special guest, Michael Brynntrup, will showcase his feature film “E.K.G. EXPOSITUS” and curate a German programme featuring recent works by German video artists and filmmakers.

Richard Tuohy from Australia is our feature artist this year. Richard will be curating an Australian programme, showcasing a solo programme of his experimental films and conducting two hand-processing film workshops, one for students at the New Era College on 19th November, and another one for general public at Rimbun Dahan on the 20th. In these full-day workshops, participants will gain hands-on experience to shoot and process 16mm film with chemicals. More details here.

All festival guests will involve in a forum discussion as well as Q&A sessions of their screening programmes.

Come join us for a venture in experimental sight and sound from around the world, right here in KL!
