In this film we drive through downtown Cairo. While exploring the urban life and daily routine of the streets near Tahrir square, we sink into a labyrinth where our path keeps on being cut. During the 2011 revolution it was often said that “the people took back the streets”, but since then the police and military have returned to power and show their supremacy by controlling the public spaces, leaving many to adapt to a system where they have no voice and must work around the obstacles that are left behind.

Based on real life memories of herself singing the first 3 national songs that celebrated Singapore’s nationhood while living and working in a foreign country, The Studio is Sun Koh’s ode to their staying power.

As a result, it transforms Shanghai into a sci-fi like surreal landscape through the blending of pre-industrial and hypermodern elements.

But somehow, the end connects with the beginning, and so connected with everything else…

A research project, started in 2016, aimed to investigate life within the hems [alleyways] in the city of Ho Chi Minh, [Saigon], Vietnam, through a series of ‘Events’, that help define the multifunctional spaces through the relations developed by the inhabitants and their rituals. The Hems are defined by their ability to transform from an extension to the house, to a communal eating space, to a place of peace and tranquility, punctuated by the sounds of Vietnamese love songs, sung by the locals.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation opened the doors of the CBK Transmitter Station in 1939 to serve the prairie region of Canada. Farewell Transmission is equal parts an indexical record of the demolition of CBK in 2015 and a subjective response to the residual media documenting the event. The building is framed with tension.

preceding its destruction: emulsion pulsates as if with decades of radio transmission, creating an unsettled eulogy for a cultural institution.
