Film is the foundation of moving image art at its most essential. We think it is vital for anyone interested in working in moving image to have had at least some experience working with the traditional film media. This is your opportunity to engage with the basic technology of cinema! Come to this workshop!
It is about shooting 16mm film. You will get to shoot film in Bolex 16mm cameras! And you will then process this film in colour yourself! Richard Tuohy and members of the Melbourne Artist Film Workshop will take you through all the stages from loading the cameras, using light meters, and shooting film in spring wound movie cameras. Then, we will hand process the very same film on the spot using simple processing equipment and chemistry. This is a trick you CAN do at home!
No experience necessary. We will teach you everything you need to know!
