YII Kah Hoe is a contemporary composer and woodwind player. He was the winner of Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra Forum for M alaysian Composers 2 (2007) and a recipient of the 3rd Prize in the International Composition for Chinese Orchestra organized by Singapore Chinese Orchestra (2006). Kah Hoe was the Finalist of International Composers Competition “Città di Udine” (Italy, 2010). Besides working artistically as a musician and composer, Kah Hoe also engaged in music education and the organization of a contemporary music collective, concerts and a festival in K.L., contributing intellectually and socially in the field. He was the festival director of Kuala Lumpur Contemporary Music Festival 2009, and the president of Society of Malaysian Contemporary Composers (SMCC). And most recently as the Director of Audio-visual Programme of KLEX 2013. Kah Hoe is currently a senior lecturer at SEGi College Subang Jaya, Malaysia.

Born In Malaysia, CHONG KEAT-AUN is a cross cultural performing artist, radio programmer, deejay, film critic, community art project founder, collaborated on series of art projects nationally and internationally since 2000s. On 9th February 2011, his cross art-cultural radio program won the “Seri Angkasa National Award”, Best Male Radio DJ and became the first Chinese broadcaster to obtain this honor in the Malaysian history. Chong was invited as a film jury for the 29th International Farj Film Festival in Iran 2011 and Hong Kong Documentary Festival 2012. The most fascinating cultural journey of Chong began in 2007 with his passion for Malaysian Chinese Accents. He initiated the project of collating Chinese Accent, focusing on the seven main spoken native tongue, Chinese opera and Folk music that are slowing being eroded in our land. By restoring and reviving the heritage of dialect, Chong was nominated for “Ten Outstanding Young Malaysia Awards 2011” in cultural achievement category.

GOH LEE-KWANG is internationally recognized sound & new media artist from Malaysia. He has created sound installations, sonic-visual interactive installations, single channel video, multi-channels video, electro-acoustic improvised music performance, tape music, composition for radio broadcast and soundtrack for theater / dance / independent movie. Goh’s works focus on the various possibility of both realistic & abstract, crossing the boundaries of digital & analog, electronic & acoustic, go beyond language, allowing audiences to experience the work directly, and in their own personal way. Most of his installation also operating interactively with the audience/viewer.

WONG ENG-LEONG is an visual artist based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He received his Diploma in Fine Art majoring in painting from Malaysia Institute of Art in 2003. His works take on multiple forms such as painting, drawing, installation, video and performance. As a contemporary multi disciplinary artist, his work often deal with political and social issues. His work has been showcased at festival, galleries and privates spaces since 2000. He received Eng Tay Awards in 2001 and 2002. In 2002 – 2005, He was selected for a two and a half year grant ‘Talent for the World’. He was then awarded the Krishen Jit Astro Fund for an audio visual performance project ‘The Rain Project’ in 2008 – 2009. Wong is also one of the founders of Findars Artists Collective and one of the founders of Findars space. Findars space is an alternative multifunctional space in Kuala Lumpur, organized art exhibition, performance art event, indie & experimental music concert, audio visual performance and international film screening since 2008.

Black Zenith is Brian O’Reilly (USA) and Darren Moore (Australia). The duo performs using analog modular synthesizers & moving images. They produce dense sonic textures that generate live visuals through the transformation of audio signals into images. Black Zenith draws as much influence from noise music & the electroacoustic music tradition as they do from the foundations of abstract video art. Black Zenith is focused on researching the intersecting points between electroacoustic music, improvisation and experimental video art. Integral to their research is the exploration of the interface of these elements within live performance. Black Zenith investigates the symbiotic relationship between sound and image considering each element as of equal importance in the artist output.

1974- born in Saitama, Japan. Based in London(1993), Tokyo(1994-1998), Barcelona(1999-2004), Now in Tokyo again with his wife Reiko, son Harumi, daughter Akemi. He releases CD album more than 40 titles from his own label “Solstice” and compose for acoustic instruments for Ensemble Die Reihe (Austria, 2004), Paragon Ensemble (Scotland, 2002), the Smith quartet (France, 1997) and Banda Municipal de Barcelona [Winds Orchestra] (Spain, 2001). He also known for laptop-base solo live performance more than 20 countries around the world. Prolific and wide range variety of his original music is beyond the frames of the music category: “One of the most imaginative composers in the world” (All Music Guide).

Jean-David Caillouët is a French sound and visual artist based in Bangkok. Mixing the old with the new, his work often combines together various disciplines such as film, music (acoustic & electronic), choreography and poetry in a live performance context. As an instrumentalist and producer, he has collaborated with artists as varied as the composers Kimho Ip from Hong Kong and Anothai Nitibhon from Thailand, Cape Coast based musician Kwesi Quayson, the acclaimed Scottish Indie band Aberfeldy and the Celtic singer Heather MacLeod. He has performed internationally, playing well respected festivals such as Celtic Connections, the Edinburgh Fringe or the Big mountain festival in Thailand. He has produced soundtracks for films, animations, theatre and dance. His work has been performed in London’s Royal Opera House and the Queen Elizabeth Hall and his installation
projects have been exposed in places as varied as the historical caves of Kent’s Cavern in the UK, the Angkor Temples in Cambodia or Bangkok’s Art and Culture Center.

Born in France in December 1982, Florian Antier began his musical studies at the young age of five.

Alongside leading a prolific classical cellist career which lead him to perform throughout Europe as a Soloist, Chamber musician and Orchestra player Florian wasn’t the typical classical musician, having a strong interest in all kinds of musical genres, such as Jazz, Blues, Rock, Heavy Metal, Raggae, World Music, R&B, Hip Hop, Electro and the likes. While learning improvisation and world music at the Conservatoire, he started collaborating with local bands, joining jam sessions in clubs and learning everything that wasn’t taught in school on the field. Always experimenting with sound, developing new instrumental techniques, learning to imitate electric guitars, saxophones, basses, ethnic instruments and so on, as well as constantly polishing the knowledge and technique of his beloved instrument and life companion. His current projects involve a rock cello quintet named Paladin which has gained quick popularity in Malaysia having been featured at the Kakiseni Festival 2013, made several TV appearances (Astro), completed a series of concert in Bangkok and is currently booked for The Urbanscape Festival 2013, The Penang Jazz Fesitval 2013, a live TV performance for the “Shout” awards 2013, the Pangkor Island music Festival.

Experimental improvised music trio. Christophe “Stalk” Turchi played in his father’s orchestra at the young age of 16 and has long dabbled in funk, abstract hip hop and electro. He uses loops, tenor and soprano saxophones as well as the EWI (electronic wind instrument), and can often be found performing at No Black Tie. Sudarshan has been involved in music for the past 8 years. He has been a member of HKPT, Takdir, Sorry and Think!Tadpole!Think!. He also directed and animated the music video for Sorry’s “Challenging Space Party”, which has been screened at KLEX. Azzief Khaliq has been composing and playing music for the past 12 years, focusing on improvised music since 2009. He usually uses electronics and piezo microphones, and occasionally plays drums, guitar, synth and saxophone. He currently records and performs as Jerk Kerouac and plays with ZDICM and HKPT.

AWK WAH is the solo project of Shark Fung, a prolific Mandopop songwriter in his youth who later spent time playing drums in band like Engineered Beautiful Blood, Amino Acid Orchestra and ID. Described by The Sound Projector as “a bound man sewed up in a mailsack trying to wriggle free with nothing more than a small nail file to make his escape”, Awk Wah doesn’t give you too much to cling on to before he has moved on to something else sound-wise. His music evokes a sense of impending doom with dark beats and gritty distressed soundscapes.
