25 October 2011
The 2nd Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film & Video Festival (KLEX) is just around the corner!
After a “viewing marathon” of 250 submissions, the 3 KLEX Open Programs have been finalized at last! Email notifications have been sent to the selected artists. Please forgive us that we aren’t able to send individual notifications to those who aren’t included in the programs.
For the 3 KLEX Open Programs, we have selected 26 works from Malaysia, Brazil, Columbia, France, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Portugal, UK, USA, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Spain and Sweden.
Congratulations to the selected artists!
And a BIG THANK YOU to all the artists who submitted works to KLEX 2011!
We’d also like to inform you about several international guests who have confirmed their attendance at KLEX 2011! How exciting! Guests include: Michael Brynntrup (Germany), Hiroaki Sato, Katsuyuki Hattori and Kotaro Tanaka (Japan), and Phoebe Man (Hong Kong). These invited guests will each present a Guest Program featuring works from their respective countries. Additionally, video artist and scholar Michael Brynntrup is the KLEX Feature Artist for this year’s festival. Brynntrup will present a retrospective program with personal works dating from 1986-present.
KLEX is very grateful to host these aspiring artists and scholars at our little festival here in Kuala Lumpur! We anticipate interesting exchanges of inspiration and invaluable conversations at KLEX 2011. We’re also very curious to see what the Malaysian audience’s reaction will be to these selected experimental works from this region and across the world.
KLEX 2011 will take place from 23-27 November, at two venues. All feature screenings will be shown at The Annexe Gallery (at Central Market) from 25-27th November, while a German students’ program and an artist workshop for students by artist collective Spread Videoart Project 2nd Aspect (Japan), will take place at the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) at the Multimedia University (MMU). *For a detailed festival schedule, please visit our website www.klexfestival.com in early November 2011.
