SERIOUS PLAY IMPROV LAB (SPIL), the monthly art lab series focusing on improvisation, music and performance, will hold two labs in June at indie artspace FINDARS, featuring two rare guests, acclaimed Japanese musician-composers Otomo Yoshihide and Sachiko M. Both Otomo and Sachiko M are inspiring and respected musicians in the improvised music scene not only in Japan but also internationally. Through the Asian Sound Research project and SPIL, they will play in Kuala Lumpur and meet with local audience for the first time!
Also on the bill is regional improvised music trio Game of Patience with Darren Moore (drums), Brian O’ Reilly (bass & electronics) and Yong Yandsen (tenor saxophone).
Otomo Yoshihide (guitar) will join SPIL 013, together with local musicians Kok Siew Wai (voice) and Yandsen, and the improv trio Game of Patience. Sachiko M (sinewaves) will play with Sudarshan Chandra Kumar (voice & electronics), Siew Wai and Yandsen in SPIL 014.
